Please note 10 unit switches are not offered in plastic cases and are sold in bags. Sold in units of 10, 70, 90 and 110 switches. As for the Tangerine switches – while I do like them, I am not sure if I would get Tangerine switch again. These are the first entry into our Snack Time Switch Line: Banana Split switches are linear switches with a 62g spring, nylon and polycarbonate blended housing, and POM stem. If I had to, I would definitely buy from Keychron despite the minor issue with one minor aspect of its design. Overall, the K4 keyboard is well built and the functionalities meet my expectations. I have to say that it mitigates the liner feeling – and unfortunately I still cannot say that I am a fan. The actuation force was nice and heavy – but not overly tiring after a prolonged period of typing. This really disappointed me a shattered my expectations quite a bit. For those I had to remove the keycaps and the switches to correct the issues. Further more, after I finished the installation, I found another three with pins bent and therefore not registering key strokes. For those I had to pull them out and straighten the pins. I was able to catch a number of them that just didn’t feel “right” when I pressed them into the sockets. That was enough to cause the switch to crumble under force and seat the sockets improperly. I found that many of them had one of its two contact pins slightly bent. There is a Light Green version at 62g but that is too light for my liking.ĭuring the installation I encounter what I think might be a quality control issue. But knowing that the Dark Green variant, which has the 67g actuation force, would mostly like be okay for my preference. I personally prefer the tactile switches. These are liner switches – therefore not quite the type I like. I seized the opportunities and bought the quantity I could (150). It was until a couple of month ago I was notified that The Key Company had them on sale. Getting them was another story – apparently they are hard to find. And since this was one of the early videos I watch when I first got interested in mechanical keyboards, I naturally got very curious about them. I have watched the video for a while but I believe the Tangerine switches were one of the favorites. I first heard about the Tangerine switches in a Linus Tech Tips video about mechanical keyboard switches. The price is pretty reasonable – so I cannot make that direct comparison with other keyboard makers such as Ducky or even Drop. For that key position I left the Gateron Brown switch in place. I am not entirely convinced but it is what it is. After contacted Keychron I learned that the “~” key sits right above the USB-C connector therefore no room for the 5-pin socket. That comes in the next section about the switches). When I was installing the new switch into the “~” key position, I felt some resistance and thought it might have due to the switches (yes – I need to complain about the switches, too. The only negative is the last point above. I am overall pretty happy about this keyboard. The switch choices are pretty limited – therefore I chose the hot-swappable version so that I can change them out later. Switch options are Gateron Red, Blue or Brown. And one could choose between plastic or aluminum frame. The backlight options are white or RGB LEDs. There are several variants or options for K4 keyboards. Except for the “~” key near the upper left corner. And specific to this particular model the switch sockets can accommodate 5-pin switches.Specific to this particular model (Keychron K4 version 2), the switches are hot-swappable.And I use this keyboard with my Mac exclusively. Their keyboards could switch between Windows or Mac modes.Their keyboards could switch between wired or wireless usage. There are quite a few formats you could choose from its lineup. They just over all make pretty good quality keyboards. ![]()
